Job Title: Veterinary Surgeon (Large & Equine)

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in Equine practice to join a highly respected and independent mixed practice in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

The practice is seeking a motivated individual to become the 5th member of their dedicated team, which consists of two experienced partners and two assistants.

The role involves working in an 80% equine and 20% farm environment. The practice prides itself on offering a well-equipped ambulatory service, with a host of modern equipment and a high level of enthusiasm.

In addition to the equine focus, the practice has a small but strong farm base. This includes a few dairy, beef, and sheep farmers, and several smallholders. The successful applicant will be expected to embrace the country community.

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will have the support they need, but will be encouraged to pursue their cases to their natural conclusions.

Experience is preferred, but all CVs will be considered.

The practice has a competent Equine Technician to assist with procedures such as gastroscopy, scanning, laser treatment, endoscopy, x-ray, nerve blocking, and artificial insemination. More complicated cases, including surgical colics and unresolved lameness, are referred.

The Rota:

The practice serves a wide range of clients, from pleasure horse owners to competition and stud yards.

On-call duties are split fairly, with a 1 in 5 rota and generous time off following a weekend duty.
