Job summary

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in Newquay is recruiting for a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to support a busy Minor Injury Unit and Outpatient Department. This 34.5 hour part-time post is based at Newquay Community Hospital, with a pro rata salary of £25,760 to £27,476 per year.

The successful candidate will assist MIU/OPD trained staff, carry out minor injuries tasks, provide patient booking and care under supervision, and be prepared to undertake further skills training.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English required.
• NVQ 3 in Direct Care or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Previous experience as a HCA within a hospital setting.
• Experience in an urgent care environment / OPD / ward.
• Computer literate and able to use web-based IT programmes.
• Willingness to undertake further skills training (e.g., wound management, plaster cast).

Responsibilities

• Assist MIU/OPD trained staff in planning, delivering and evaluating care.
• Book in patients and attend to general needs in the OPD.
• Provide A&C support to team members.
• Work under pressure in emergency settings and undertake additional skills training as needed.
