Job summary

Astroscale UK is seeking a Senior Mission Operations Engineer to join our Harwell team. The role covers responsibilities across real‑time spacecraft operations, mission planning and operations preparation, with the opportunity to rotate roles across the team for robustness and growth.

The successful candidate will contribute to multiple missions from feasibility to end‑of‑life operations, leveraging a broad range of engineering disciplines and industry standards.

Qualifications

• University degree in engineering or scientific discipline.
• 5+ years of demonstrable satellite industry experience, preferably in real‑time spacecraft operations as part of a flight control team.
• Knowledge of satellite subsystems, especially AOCS/GNC or on‑board data handling; familiarity with mission control systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as operations technical lead for missions and projects.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.
• Perform routine and critical real‑time spacecraft operations.
• Develop and maintain mission operations procedures and tools.
• Prepare spacecraft user manuals and mission operations plans.
• Support ongoing mission development and bid proposals.
