Job summary

Avalara seeks a Director of Finance & Strategy for the ELR product line to act as a mini-CFO, guiding the P&L, growth strategy, and operating rhythm alongside the ELR General Manager. The role spans ELR-specific FP&A and cross-geo partnerships across EMEA, reporting into the SVP, Finance & Strategy.

The ideal candidate combines advanced financial modeling with strategic business judgment, communicating insights to executives and the Vista/Board with clarity and impact.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years FP&A or strategy experience, SaaS/tech preferred.
• Direct finance partner to GM or regional leader; strategic advisor, not just reporting.
• Strong modeling skills; driver-based forecasting and unit economics.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate modeling and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Lead ELR's financial plan, forecast, and long-range model; connect bookings to performance.
• Own pricing, monetization, market expansion, and investment prioritization.
• Develop KPI framework and provide data-driven narratives for executives and boards.
• Run monthly/quarterly business reviews; guide investment and reallocation decisions.
• Support M&A, market sizing, and competitive analyses relevant to ELR's growth.
• Coordinate FP&A and Vista reporting within Avalara's broader finance function.
• Provide FP&A partnership to EMEA sales leaders and ensure consistent reporting.
