The Role
To carry out tasks set by site management, and be responsible for carrying out deep drainage excavations, shafts, tunnelling, connections to sewer lines, general groundworks and reinstatements and ensure a high level of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and carry out job set tasks
- Ensure that you have been briefed and understand all relevant risk and method statements
- Use best/safe practice when carrying out any tasks
- Carry out safety checks on equipment in use and ensure proper process followed to report issues
- Ensure a safe tidy place of work
- Read and understand instruction and drawings for your specific section of work
Ensure the completion of works is on time
- Implement best practice procedures
- Maximise use of own working time
- Ensure all permits are in place before commencing any work
- Ensure the works is on schedule and delivered safely
Communication with site management
- Communicate with site supervisor about any concerns
- Feedback to site management regarding near miss reporting
- Be sure to attend all site briefings, forums, and toolbox talks
Key Measures & Targets
- Ensure all work are carried out safely and in accordance with best practice
- Ensure the planned works are delivered on time

Person Specification
The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:
Essential
- Experience of general civils works, drainage, ducting and concreting
- Experience in shaft sinking both Caison and Segmental underpin, headings and pit sinking using sheets and frames
- Health & Safety Awareness
- CSCS card
- Safety Critical Medical
- City and Guilds Confined Spaces
- A practical hands-on approach
