Job Description:

Following its recent acquisition by SLR, Wardell Armstrong now forms part of a leading global environmental and sustainability consultancy working on projects worldwide from over 100 offices. We have an exciting opportunity for a Mineral Town Planner in our Leeds office.

Overview of team / business area

We have a well-established Planning and Environment Team across the UK, dealing with projects in renewable energy, waste, industrial, mineral, commercial, and major infrastructure sectors. Our pipeline includes renewable projects like solar, battery, and wind technologies.

We offer hybrid and flexible working in friendly environments.

The role

  • Providing planning and environmental advice to clients including renewable energy developers, utility companies, waste operators, house builders, land promoters, investment firms, mineral owners, and operators throughout all planning stages.
  • Shaping and assessing development project cases, including planning strategies.
  • Pre-application consultation, preparing planning applications and appeals.
  • EIA coordination alongside the EIA team.
  • Managing planning projects, coordinating technical teams.
  • Community consultation and local plan representations.
  • Preparing fee proposals and business development.
  • Liaising with developers, landowners, architects, engineers, and authorities.
  • Supervising team members and providing advice.

About you

You should have at least 3 years of relevant experience, a relevant degree, and be a chartered planner. Experience with medium/large-scale planning projects, strong technical skills, and good communication and analytical abilities are essential. Ability to manage multiple projects and solve problems is critical. Experience in Mineral Planning is a plus.
