Job description

We’re looking for a Mine Production Manager to assist the Mine Manager through the effective management and deployment of all personnel and equipment resources to meet safety, quality and production performance requirements.

Amongst other duties, you will deputise for the Mine Manager in his absence and undertake these duties and responsibilities in a safe and economic manner in compliance with mining legislation, company policy, and Managers Rules.

What we’re looking for:

  • Graduate Mining Engineer or MQB First Class certificate of Competence
  • Membership of appropriate Professional Institution (IOM3). Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • 3 years Supervisory/junior management experience in an underground mining environment
  • Experience of Drill/Blast and mechanised mining.
  • Experience of managing production in a unionised environment

What you will be doing:

You will have responsibility across a number of areas that include Safety, Mine Planning/Engineering, Environment, CSI/Quality, and People Development.

Some of the duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Promotion of Positive safety culture
  • Accident investigation to Root Cause and implementation of containment/countermeasures
  • Ensure Extraction complies with Mine Annual and 5 Year Plan and reserve sequencing.
  • Communicate through Shift Managers and Section Leaders plan requirements prior to mining
  • Coordinate the activities of central geological and survey teams to support the production operations
  • Compliance with Mining Regulations and Company Mining Standards
  • Control underground and surface production activities to minimise impact and potential disturbance to neighbours
  • Direct Shift Managers and Section Leaders to mine the appropriate quality horizon by analysing and interpreting quality data and sample results
  • Plan shift/day/week production targets to ensure strategic rock stocks are maintained and surface plant/external customers receive the required volumes
  • Promotion of positive and inclusive people culture
