Job summary

New Appointments Group is seeking a Timber Mill Operative in Ashford, UK. This hands-on role is temporary to permanent, suited to someone with a strong work ethic and an eye for detail. Experience with timber, hand tools or factory machinery is highly regarded.

You will operate wood-working machinery, feed timber, read drawings, and help produce timber products while maintaining a safe, clean work area. The role is physically demanding and requires reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Operate mechanical woodworking machinery.

• Read drawings and work accurately from measurements.

Timber Mill Operative

£13.33 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Timber Mill Operative to join a busy and hardworking team on a temporary to permanent basis. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, has a strong work ethic and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. Ideally, you will have experience using hand tools and machinery, an interest in maintenance or DIY, and a good eye for detail. Previous experience working with timber or in a manufacturing environment would be beneficial.

Duties include:

• Operating mechanical wood-working machinery
• Feeding timber into machinery and removing finished products
• Operating planer moulders
• Using a variety of hand tools, including hammers, drills, screwdrivers and nail guns
• Using chop saws, pull saws and push saws
• Reading drawings and working accurately from measurements
• Producing timber products, including fence panels
• Working to tight deadlines and production timescales
• Carrying out general manual handling and heavy lifting
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience using hand tools; experience assembling wooden structures would be beneficial
• Machine minding or machinery experience
• Experience working with timber or in a manufacturing environment is desirable
• An interest in maintenance and DIY
• Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Reliable with a strong work ethic
• Good organisational skills
• Excellent timekeeping and attendance
• Comfortable with heavy lifting and physical work
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Working Hours:

Monday -Thursday: 8:00am - 5:45pm and Friday: 8:00am - 4:15pm
