Job Title: Military Driving Instructor

Location: Shropshire

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

The role

As a Military Driving Instructor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be accountable to the Mechanical Transport Trade Training and Licensing Manager for delivering specialist Mechanical Transport (MT) instruction under the HADES Region 1 (TSSP) Contract, with training conducted at RAF Cosford and RAF Shawbury.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct vehicle conversion, familiarisation, testing, and licensing for all Service, MoD, and contracted personnel operating MoD vehicles.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents involving MoD-operated vehicles, contributing to safety and compliance reviews.
  • Maintain accurate driver documentation and training records to support operational readiness and regulatory standards.
  • Provide instructional support for Dangerous Goods Awareness and Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) training programmes.

This role is full time working 39 hours per week. The role is mainly based at RAF Cosford, Shropshire, but you will be required to travel to RAF Shawbury.

Essential experience of the Military Driving Instructor:

  • Possess a valid and current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or demonstrate a willingness to undertake CPC training if not already held, particularly applicable to ex-military personnel transitioning into the role.

Qualifications for the Military Driving Instructor:

  • Possession of a full UK driving licence, including at least one of the following categories: C, C+E, or D.
  • Holds Defence General Service Driving Conversion Instructor (DGSDCI) qualification or demonstrates a commitment to undertake the course following initial training.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
