Job description

Job Title: Military Disease - Paralegal
Location: Manchester

Overall Purpose of the Role

The paralegal within the Disease / Military department will assist the solicitors with the handling of their cases and the general running of the department. This will include a mixture of administrative and file handling tasks.

Job Context
  1. Managing a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  2. Providing solicitors with skilled and efficient assistance
  3. Maintaining high levels of client care, in a sector in which clients have often been through traumatic and distressing events and suffering with severe injury
  4. Balancing competing deadlines and prioritising tasks accordingly
  5. Maintaining high company standards
  6. Working towards KPIs and targets
  7. Assisting other members of the team with legal or administrative tasks, in line with their instructions
  8. Attending any of the offices within the region as required by the Solicitors as well as assisting other regions if required
  9. Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm
Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  2. Excellent client manner
  3. Excellent analytical skills, including ability to accurately and efficiently extract key information from lengthy written records and reports
  4. Good organisational and time management skills
  5. Working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and Pre-Action Protocol for the Resolution of Clinical Disputes
  6. Good IT skills, including knowledge of Word and Outlook (experience with Proclaim preferable but not essential)
  7. Attention to detail
  8. Ability to work as part of a team and to maintain good relationships with colleagues and clients
  9. The ability to work to short deadlines, under pressure and to financial targets
  10. Ability to build relationships with other professionals and third parties
  11. Professionalism and integrity always
  12. Ability to work proactively and with a can-do attitude
  13. Ability to work effectively on your own initiative or as part of a team
  14. Be PC literate having good knowledge of the Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
