WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU

Day shift £14.46 / Night Shift: £16.46
OT 1.5x first 5 hours over, 1.67 after 5 hours (over 40)
Days: 7:30am-4:30pm Monday - Thursday, Friday 7:30am - 12:00pm
Night shifts: 9pm-7:30am Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday 8:30pm-7am
Must drive as there is a lack of public transport to location for night shifts
PPE - Overalls, safety boots for successful candidates, welders need their own welding helmet/screen.

THE BUSINESS

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Time Served Welder to work for our client in the Gateshead area. This role offers the opportunity to join a forward-thinking organization that is growing rapidly via acquisition and expanding into new markets.

THE ROLE

  • Measure and mark workpieces using straightedges, rules, and callipers
  • Cut and smoothen metal components using plasma cutters/portable grinders
  • Read and interpret blueprints and production drawings to lay out welding projects
  • Collaborate with project managers and welding supervisors to ensure smooth operations
  • Guide and direct the activities of inexperienced/trainee welders
  • Maintain welding safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a risk-free environment
  • Carry out welding according to set dimensions to meet test requirements
  • Organise and clean welding equipment regularly
  • Weld materials in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Use measuring instruments such as micrometres and callipers to inspect angles, grooves, or gap allowances

THE PERSON

  • You will be physically fit, able to lift and handle heavy materials
  • Experience working within an engineering environment
  • Able to read engineering drawings
  • Must be a time-served welder
  • Flexible to work shifts and overtime to meet business demands
  • Hold a full clean driving license
  • Comfortable working alone once induction/training is complete
