The Midwife Sonography team at NUH are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated experienced Midwife Sonographer who is interested in joining our team on a 6 month fixed term contract.
You will have excellent communication skills, be a team player and demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality care. This is an excellent opportunity to join our friendly and hard working team.
The vacancy is part time, working 25.5h per week over 3 days. Working pattern is Monday - Friday, 8-5pm, to work across both QMC and City Hospitals.
PLEASE NOTE -This post is for an experienced Midwife Sonographer
Main duties of the job
- Undertaking 2nd and 3rd trimester fetal growth surveillance scans as part of the Midwife Sonography team
- Performing uterine artery doppler scans
- Interpreting scans performed and ensuring an appropriate care plan is in place
- Vetting and actioning scan referrals
- Performing audits

Person Specification
Experience
- Experience in management/leadership
- Experience in Obstetric Ultrasound, focusing on 2nd and 3rd trimester assessment.
- Supervision of non-registered staff, pre-registration and post basic students.
- Evidence of ability to mentor. Ability to manage the clinical area or ward efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to embrace and lead change, learn new techniques outside current scope of practice, further enhancing role.
- Audit or research within the clinical area
- Formal teaching of groups of staff.
- Budget management
- Support roster management to ensure the units are staffed sufficiently to provide an efficient and safe service
Communication and relationship skills
- Able to present and receive complex information within the multi professional team.
- Demonstrate negotiation and influencing skills.
- Assertiveness skills and the ability to deal with conflict.
- Team player who can initiate, delegate and complete projects.
- Experience of supporting colleagues, patients and relatives/carers in distressing circumstances.

- Ability to respond to, prioritise and analyse complex problems/situations / scan findings and ensure effective interventions are put in place.
- Ability to generate and present comprehensive scan reports and utilize computer patient records for documentation i.e. Badgernet.
- Deal effectively with clinical issues within defined procedures/guidelines.
- Demonstrate insight in the use of data to influence patient care and services.
- Demonstrate awareness of safety issues related to Ultrasound scans in pregnancy
