The Role

We are seeking a high-performing Middle Office & Risk Associate to support our trading and investment teams across financial and physical markets. This role spans daily P&L reporting, trade lifecycle oversight, valuation control, and risk reporting. You will work closely with traders, risk managers, finance, and technology to ensure accuracy, transparency, and operational excellence across a broad portfolio including physical and financial commodities, equities, and credit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and reconcile daily P&L reports; investigate and explain variances.
  • Validate market valuations and positions across physical and derivative books.
  • Support the physical trading business with inventory, margin, and exposure reporting.
  • Ensure accurate trade capture and resolve discrepancies or trade breaks.
  • Assist with portfolio analytics, exposure tracking, and risk reporting.
  • Contribute to month-end close, inventory valuation, and audit processes.
  • Enhance and automate reporting and control frameworks; support system improvements.
  • Create and direct the development of internal dashboards for reporting, in collaboration with technology and data teams.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience in Product Control, Middle Office, or Trade Operations at either:
  • a commodities merchant/trading house (with exposure to freight and physical/financial commodities), or
  • a multi-strategy hedge fund (with exposure to commodities, equities, and credit).
  • Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle, financial/physical settlement, and valuation principles.
  • Proficient in Excel (VBA); SQL or Python preferred.
  • Experience with Enfusion is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and confident working across teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communicator with a proactive mindset and ownership mentality.

What We Offer

  • Exposure to a broad and evolving trading platform across both physical and financial markets.
  • Direct interaction with senior leadership and key decision-makers.
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial environment with significant room for growth.
