Job summary

Brooklands Primary School in Sale is seeking a Midday Assistant to supervise pupils during lunch, helping to create a safe and enjoyable dining room and playground experience.

You will work 6.25 hours per week during term time, Monday to Friday 12:00–1:15pm, and support staff with safeguarding, organization and activity ideas.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervise pupils in dining hall, playground and school premises during lunch.
• Develop positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Adhere to safeguarding policy.
• Assist with cleaning spillages and keeping tables clean.
• Help maintain good order and conduct.
• Address minor pupil accidents.
• Report issues to the Midday Supervisor.
• Follow fire alarm and evacuation procedures.
• Help develop lunchtime games and activities.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed.

MIDDAY ASSISTANT (Various positions available) - Required ASAP
Band 1 SCP 3 - £24,796 pro rata
Working hours: Monday Friday 12:00 1:15 pm (6.25 hours per week, term time only)
Responsible to: School Business Manager and Midday Supervisor

PURPOSE
To create an enjoyable and educational lunch-time experience for pupils based on safe play and good conduct, both as an individual and as part of a team.

Key duties

The duties will include:

• 1. Supervision of the pupils in the dining hall, playground areas and school premises, from leaving the classroom at the start of lunchtime to the handover to a member of the teaching staff at the end of lunchtime, ensuring the children are never unattended.
• 2. Develop positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• 3. Adhere to the school’s safeguarding policy.
• 4. Ancillary duties (e.g. cleaning up spillages, ensuring tables are clean between sittings, etc.).
• 5. Ensuring the maintenance of good order and conduct.
• 6. Dealing with minor accidents to pupils.
• 7. Reporting issues to the Midday Supervisor.
• 8. Fire alarm procedures exits and evacuation procedures are adhered to.
• 9. Develop lunchtime games and activities.
• 10. Any other reasonable duties and activities as directed by the Headteacher or equivalent.

All duties to be carried out in the working conditions normally inherent in the job. Duties will be carried out for jobs up to and including those in the same grade, provided such duties are within the competence of the employee.
