Mid-Level Test Analyst

Where can a test analyst contribute to research that’s changing the way the world understands health?

At UK Biobank, that’s where.

Our Access Management System (AMS) is the gateway which researchers access our world-leading health data, data that powers some of the most groundbreaking studies in areas like sleep, cancer risk, and the genetics of heart disease. Behind AMS is a dedicated team driven by quality, impact, and innovation.

At UK Biobank, we believe in the power of data to transform lives. We’re home to one of the most comprehensive and richly detailed health research databases in the world, and our technology team plays a central role in unlocking its full potential.

Whether you're driving forward automated testing with Playwright or supporting complex systems through manual verification, this is a role where every test you run helps accelerate life-saving discoveries.

Can you do it?

As Test Analyst reporting to the Test Lead, you’ll ensure our systems are robust, secure, and built to perform. You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, playing a critical role in the evolution of our in-house research platform.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Participate in the full software development life cycle (SDLC) establishing the required scope and type of testing necessary to identify and resolve defects
  • Work with development staff to ensure defects are rectified and any underlying causes addressed, escalating if necessary
  • Follow a testing lifecycle that comprises planning, analysis, design, setup, execution, and closure
  • Work with the Test and Development Leads to implement test automation to reduce the time-to-release and to improve quality through verification and validation

Is this you?

To Thrive In This Role, You’ll Bring

  • Strong experience in software testing, especially in enterprise environments
  • Knowledge of software development and testing lifecycles, Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), and DevOps principles
  • Familiarity with test automation tools (Playwright preferred, Selenium useful)
  • Understanding of secure software development practices, including OWASP Top 10
  • Knowledge and experience of quality assurance

The working pattern is Monday to Friday, with hybrid working arrangements based in Greater Manchester (initially Stockport, moving to Manchester Science Park in 2026).

Our passion for diversity and equality means creating a work environment for all employees that is welcoming, respectful, engaging, and enriched with opportunities for personal and professional development.
