Job description

Location: Manchester5 Days On-Site
Contract Type: 3 Month Contract (£400 - £450/day) Outside IR35
Start Date: Expected in the coming weeks

I'm working with a well-established education technology company in Manchester that designs and builds digital learning platforms used by schools, universities, and training providers across the UK. Their platforms support thousands of students and educators, providing interactive tools for learning, assessment, and collaboration, and they are continually innovating to enhance accessibility, engagement, and performance.

These projects are set to start shortly. This is a chance to work on meaningful education technology projects that have real impact on learning outcomes nationwide.

Projects involved:

  • Building new features for an online assessment and grading platform

  • Developing interactive course modules and real-time collaboration tools for students

  • Migrating legacy systems to a modern JavaScript/TypeScript stack

  • Improving platform performance, accessibility, and user experience for thousands of active users

  • Integrating the platform with third-party APIs and cloud services

Skills required:

  • JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript

  • React (Next.js or similar modern framework)

  • Node.js & Express for backend services (desirable)

  • REST APIs and GraphQL

  • Testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright

  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, and cloud hosting (AWS/Azure)

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) is a plus, given the education focus
