Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates is seeking a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator for a 12-month assignment with potential extension. Location is East Kilbride (Glasgow) or London with hybrid 60% onsite, supporting a central government client. Active security clearance and enterprise SQL Server experience are preferred.

The role requires administering SQL Server 2019, building automation with PowerShell, and implementing HA/DR and security best practices across large environments.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft SQL Server 2019.
• Experience in developing and automating using PowerShell.
• Strong background in High Availability and Disaster Recovery environments.
• Hands-on with Always-On Availability Groups and clustered setups.
• Experience with Log Shipping for disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of security practices: RBAC, AD integration, and certificates.
• Familiar with TLS/SSL encryption for SQL Server communications.

Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator | SQL DBA

Summer-Browning Associates is currently supporting our central government client, who is seeking a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator for an initial 12-month assignment with the option to extend.

Location: East Kilbride (Glasgow) or London | Hybrid 60% onsite

The ideal candidate will have an active security clearance and a proven background in Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator, with experience supporting and maintaining enterprise-scale SQL Server environments

Skills and Experience:

• Proven expertise in installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft SQL Server 2019, complemented by proficiencies in T-SQL development and troubleshooting.
• Experience in the development and maintenance of PowerShell scripts for purposes of automation and administration.
• Comprehensive understanding of SQL Server High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
• Practical experience with SQL Server Always-On Availability Groups and clustered environments.
• Proficiency in implementing and managing Log Shipping solutions as a means of disaster recovery.
• Familiarity with the application of SQL Server Service Packs (SPs), Cumulative Updates (CUs), and Windows security patches.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server security best practices, encompassing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Active Directory integration, and the management of security groups.
• Understanding of TLS/SSL certificates and encryption technologies used to secure SQL Server communications and endpoints.
