Job description

The Microsoft Platform Engineer, reporting to the Microsoft Platform Lead, is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of products on the Microsoft platform, focusing on current and upcoming components of Office (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, Exchange) and providing support for other Microsoft products such as Azure DevOps, CoPilot, and Viva.

This role also offers support for additional Microsoft ecosystem products (such as Dynamics and Power Platform) as needed. It involves working with the Microsoft Platform Lead to support the delivery of the evolving Microsoft platform roadmap aligned with LRQA strategy.

The role includes collaborating with the IT team to implement small enhancements and changes to the Microsoft platform capabilities. It also requires sharing knowledge with colleagues to maximize the use of the Microsoft Platform, including Power Platform, and promoting adoption of new and existing features. The engineer acts as an evangelist to ensure LRQA derives maximum value from the platform.

You will work closely with support vendors to handle incidents within agreed service levels and escalate technical issues when necessary. Additionally, you will facilitate the transition of support for new or changed features into vendor scope where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation, support, and transition of new capabilities within the Microsoft Platform Stack.
  • Maintain and support all elements of the Microsoft platform (including Teams Telephony, SharePoint, OneDrive, CoPilot, and Viva).
  • Work with support vendors to resolve incidents promptly and escalate as needed.
  • Keep support and knowledge articles updated to reflect environment changes.
  • Develop and improve platform governance and processes for smooth operation.
  • Provide support, training, and promote best practices for platform functionalities, helping the business realize value.
  • Ensure all platform changes align with business, architecture, and security requirements.
  • Operate in a DevOps environment, prioritizing tasks, gathering requirements, and delivering small changes in an Agile manner.
  • Contribute to the platform roadmap by identifying focus areas and improvements.
  • Support technological change and innovation to enhance customer and business value, collaborating with other teams.

Technical/Professional Qualifications/Requirements

  • Proven technical experience with Microsoft products, including SharePoint, Teams, Azure, and Power Platform.
  • Experience in supporting, implementing, and developing new Microsoft features, with familiarity with tools like Defender and Compliance.
  • Strong communication skills to engage and advise stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to assess requirements, design solutions, and see projects through to completion.
  • Deep understanding of the evolving Microsoft SaaS landscape and change management.
  • Experience with data migration and platform maintenance tools such as ShareGate.
  • ITIL Qualification is required.
  • Effective team player and ambassador for IT, capable of stakeholder engagement both internally and externally.
