Job description

Our Quality Team, based in Bishops Stortford, UK, is seeking a dedicated Micro Lab Technician to join our Quality Control team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. You will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and conduct microbial analysis of processes and materials within Molton Brown manufacturing, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will conduct microbiological examinations/tests on raw materials, bulk, finished goods, water, air, and customer samples. Assess results within the ERP system and take appropriate actions.
  • Recommend enhancements to analytical methods and contribute to training initiatives on production hygiene for department and company members.
  • Maintain retain samples (e.g., bulk) and ensure calibration and monitoring of analytical devices.
  • Keep accurate test records, prepare certificates of analysis, and support the enhancement of microbiological processes.
  • Address test results that require further review and collaborate with relevant departments on follow-up actions.

What We're Looking For:

  • Education: degree in Microbiology (or a related field). A background in Chemistry or Biology is beneficial.
  • Experience: at least 2 years of experience in a microbiological laboratory setting.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
  • understanding of testing procedures, specifications, and international norms (e.g., GMP, EurPh, Kao microbiological standards).
  • experience working with SOPs and quality agreements.
  • strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
