Microbiology Technician

Job Description:

1. To communicate with all co-workers in a professional manner if there are any discrepancies/queries and taking charge of ensuring emails are addressed and dealt with promptly or within a reasonable timescale.
2. Sorting of samples and ensuring they correspond with the relevant paperwork.
3. Prepare and analyse all samples accurately and in a timely manner.
4. Correctly report all samples into LIMS.
5. Prepare dry culture media in line with our Standard Operating Procedures.
6. Understand and follow the Standard Operating Procedures provided.
7. Maintain Cawood credibility by always portraying a positive image by keeping equipment and PPE clean.
8. Respect company equipment ensuring to use them as per guidelines and to report any damage to management as soon as possible.
9. Work as a team and maintaining morale and actively offer help and assistance wherever possible.
10. Responsible for keeping safety at the forefront of lab work and being proactive ensuring accidents and near misses are always reported straightaway to Managers in line with our company accreditation and policy.
11. When required, assist with on-site training of new employees providing proactive support ensuring their onboarding into the company is friendly, engaging, and inspiring.
12. Use of the following instrumentation, after successful training: balances, incubators, autoclaves, preparators, dilumats, and pipettes.
