Job summary

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Microbiology team at the St George's site. The post requires a minimum of two years' Band 5 experience, sound bacteriology knowledge and strong problem-solving skills.

You will contribute to a high-quality, 24/7 diagnostic service, participate in training staff, and deputise for the Advanced Biomedical Scientist when required.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years Band 5 experience in microbiology.
• Good bacteriology knowledge.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Willingness to work 24/7 shift including weekends and nights.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical services to patients, including research and audit samples.
• Contributes to providing a professional clinical laboratory service, working effectively as part of the department.
• Able to perform core scientific and interpretive work in line with training and qualifications.
• Assist in training and supervising staff and deputise for the Advanced Biomedical Scientist when necessary.
