Job summary

ALS Laboratories (UK) Ltd in Trowbridge is seeking a conscientious Microbiologist to join the laboratory team. You will perform microbiological testing, plate counting, identification and confirmation, following documented methods to maintain accuracy, quality and safety.

The role includes delivering training and development to colleagues, supporting stock control and ensuring deadlines are met within an ISO quality framework. A strong safety culture and meticulous data handling are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 GCSEs (Science, English and Mathematics) or equivalent.
• Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of microbiology across methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication with excellent attention to detail.
• Able to work independently, manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Carry out microbiological testing including plate counting, identification and confirmation.
• Enter and approve test results accurately and promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organised lab and follow waste disposal procedures.
• Monitor stock levels and request replenishment as needed.
