Assistant Bacteriology or Microbiology Technician

Contract 6 Months

In this role you will be performing Bacteriology testing in support of DEFRA and the devolved government’s scanning surveillance policies.

Key Tasks:

• Culture of different organisms (e.g.E. coli,Salmonella spp.,Staph aureus, Brucella spp., Champylobacter spp., Mycoplasmas or TB) on specialist media isolated from a wide range of biological samples (e.g. faeces, tissues, swabs or food samples).
• Bacterial identification.
• Presentation of data in tabular or graphical formats for compilation in reports or papers.
• Various supporting tasks to maintain laboratory testing activities.
• Working to ISO17025
• Experience of culturing of bacterial isolates
• A degree in a related scientific field
• Experience in techniques related to general bacteriology/Microbiology.
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office Software
