Job description

Microbiologist - GBP14.74-GBP19.80 PH - 6 months - Reading Shift days Thursday-Monday

Working in a Pharmaceutical Microbiology laboratory to perform a wide range of analytical analyses for food, pharmaceutical, and healthcare companies, supporting research and innovation.

The role involves performing routine activities to support project completion and meet contractual agreements. Responsibilities include lab admin, housekeeping, basic routine analysis, and adhering to quality standards within the Pharmaceutical Microbiology laboratory. The position is primarily based in Wokingham but may require attendance at other RSSL sites. The working pattern is Thursday to Monday, including Bank Holidays, Christmas, and New Year.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine analysis such as Endotoxins, Bioburdens, Total Viable Count, and Environmental Monitoring.
  • Provide high-quality customer service by organizing workload, ensuring data integrity, and delivering results promptly and accurately.
  • Operate basic lab equipment under supervision.
  • Use software packages like Laboratory LIMS and Q-Pulse.
  • Perform lab admin and housekeeping duties.
  • Follow safety and quality standards, including COSHH, risk assessments, SOPs, GMP, and UKAS requirements.
  • Maintain accurate training records.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Accountable, honest, hardworking, and team-oriented.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet business needs.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Good communication skills, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and quick learner.
  • Well-organized, capable of multitasking.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Basic scientific understanding; microbiological degree preferred.
  • Full training provided.
  • Note: Candidates on student visas are not eligible, as this is a temp-to-perm role without sponsorship support.
