Job summary

Hobbycraft is hiring a Micro Space Planner to create and maintain accurate planograms using Spaceman, translating range reviews into customer-centric layouts. You will work with divisional teams to balance sales, availability and fixture constraints across stores, ensuring consistency with planning standards.

The role involves 37.5 hours per week, with a hybrid model: three days in the office and two days at home, based at Hobbycraft Bournemouth/Head Office.

Role Purpose

In this position you will create and maintain accurate, high-quality planograms that translate agreed range, commercial, stock and customer strategies into clear and executable displays. Working as part of the Micro Space Planning team and reporting to the Micro Space Planner Lead, the role uses Spaceman and supporting data to apply product space allocation, display capacity and micro space standards consistently across Hobbycraft stores.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain accurate planograms in Spaceman, aligned to approved range reviews, product launches, deletions, seasonal updates and ad hoc changes.
  • Work collaboratively with divisional teams to understand range intent, customer missions, product hierarchy, commercial priorities and category-specific requirements before planograms are created.
  • Translate agreed category and divisional briefs into customer-centric planogram layouts that are commercially informed, operationally practical and visually consistent, supporting outputs used by the macro space team.
  • Use micro space planning principles to allocate space by SKU and category, balancing sales, margin, rate of sale, availability, MCDQ/TSC, fixture constraints and replenishment needs.
  • Work with the Micro Space Planner Lead, divisional teams and key stakeholders to ensure planogram outputs support commercial Strategy, Stock Requirements, Customer Experience And Store Execution.
  • Use data, planning judgement and store feedback to support constructive conversations with divisional teams around space allocation, adjacencies, display capacity, product flow and execution risks.
  • Deliver assigned planogram activity to agreed critical paths, escalating risks around briefs, data, range decisions, fixture constraints, divisional alignment or deadlines.
  • Maintain planogram and system accuracy for assigned areas, working within agreed planning standards, reference data and ways of working.
  • Use sales, stock and store feedback to identify opportunities to improve space productivity, availability, customer navigation and execution.
  • Support trials, new stores, refits and transformation projects, updating outputs based on live feedback, divisional input and agreed standards.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong understanding of retail micro space planning, planograms, visual merchandising principles and in-store execution.
  • Experience creating planograms using Spaceman, NielsenIQ/NIQ Spaceman or similar space planning software.
  • Good analytical skills, using sales, stock, range, fixture and space data to support planning decisions.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage high SKU volumes and complex range changes.
  • Clear communication skills, able to clarify briefs, challenge constructively and escalate risks appropriately.
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with experience delivering multiple activities to critical paths.
  • Good understanding of store operations, fixture limitations and replenishment/availability requirements.
  • Intermediate Excel capability; Power BI and Power Query awareness desirable.
Other Requirements
  • Travel to stores, competitors and the DC will be required
  • Occasional support for store trials, new stores, refits or range implementations may be required.
Working Hours & Environment

This is a full/part time role, working 37.5 hours per week. Our core business hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm with a flexible approach to start and finish times.

Our hybrid working model is 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home.
