Job summary

Edenbrook is assisting a leading UK life insurer in appointing a Financial Reporting Accountant to join the Financial Reporting team. The role focuses on owning key MI and external reporting deliverables while driving improvements across the finance function.

The ideal candidate will leverage actuarial data to provide meaningful insight to senior stakeholders, working across Finance, Actuarial and business units to enhance reporting quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in life insurance accounting is essential.
• Solid IFRS knowledge and Solvency II exposure.
• Proven financial reporting experience and ability to translate data into insights.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly MI pack production and commentary.
• Analyse performance data and translate accounting/actuarial info into business insight.
• Support year-end, statutory and regulatory reporting.
• Contribute to the front half of the Annual Report.
• Plan and manage year-end reporting timetable and deliverables.
• Review reporting quality and suggest process improvements.
• Support change projects and ad-hoc reporting needs.
• Collaborate with Finance, Actuarial and wider teams.

An opportunity for a technically strong reporting accountant within a specialist life insurance business.

I’m working with a leading UK life insurer looking to appoint a Financial Reporting Accountant to join its Financial Reporting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable reporting accountant to take ownership of key MI and external reporting deliverables while playing an active role in improving the wider finance function.

Our client is seeking someone who enjoys going beyond the numbers — using financial and actuarial data to understand performance, identify the underlying drivers and provide meaningful insight to senior stakeholders.

What will you be doing?

• Lead the production and commentary of the monthly MI pack
• Analyse financial performance and translate complex accounting and actuarial information into clear business insight
• Support year-end, statutory and regulatory reporting
• Help deliver the front half of the Annual Report
• Plan and manage the year-end reporting timetable and key deliverables
• Review reporting quality and identify opportunities to improve processes and controls
• Support change projects and ad-hoc reporting requirements
• Work closely with Finance, Actuarial and wider business teams

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Experience within life insurance, ideally with exposure to life and pensions accounting
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Solvency II
• Previous financial reporting experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work to tight deadlines and make sound judgement calls
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with Oracle Fusion / FCCS, SmartView and Workiva would be highly advantageous
• Experience preparing the front half of Annual Reports is particularly relevant
