WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As a Lead Project Engineer you’ll work alongside external vendors and our program team including process & construction teammates to build automation in a brand-new Distribution Centre befitting of one of the most iconic and innovative global brands.
The ambition is clear, build a ground-breaking omni-channel DC encompassing the best innovation, automation, and iconic design. We seek a Lead Project Engineer that will help us implement a material handling solution for our UK Distribution Centre (DC) planned to launch in 2027

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Professional qualification in engineering or equivalent experience, you are familiar with all aspects of automation (mechanical, electrical & controls).
  • You have a broad technical knowledge, where you have gained experience with the various aspects of MHE installation (electrical, mechanical, PLC, pneumatics).
  • You can read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams
  • Experience leading the realisation of technical projects at scale in a highly automated environment.
  • Experience in leading a team toward a shared vison and goal as a line manager.
  • Experience in building strong cross functional relationships.
  • An affinity and curiosity about material handling systems.
  • You take personal responsibility for the realisation of the project.
  • You enjoy teamwork, working with cross-functional teams and in a dynamic environment.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As a Project Engineer you will be deployed to lead the end-to-end material handling installation, from the start of the project installation, all the way through to testing, commissioning, solution acceptance so that a well-functioning installation can be handed over once the DC launches.

As part of the Automation team, you will lead the implementation of an optimal material handling solution. This will involve deep understanding and experience with all aspects of material handling equipment / automation (mechanical, electrical and controls)

  • Reports to Process & Automation Director in all aspects of project technical delivery.
  • Ensures project technical and quality installation requirements are met.
  • Ensures project adherence to NIKE quality processes and procedures.
  • Provide Health and Safety leadership by example.
  • Work closely with principal contactor and OEM vendors.
  • You lead all aspects of your automation / MHE project including management of vendors, contracts and standards agreed in partnership with them and any required enabling works.
  • You line manage a team of project engineers, helping to set priorities, track progress, support with risk and issue resolution. You lead, coach, inspire and develop the team. Enabling them to be successful both professionally and personally.
  • You collaborate with all relevant and applicable stakeholders such as PMO, Procurement, Construction and Finance, where asked for and needed.
  • You are the lead point of contact for MHE implementation with stakeholders both in the UK, Europe and Globally.
  • Using your experience and qualifications you are the technical authority for MHE and ensure compliance with relevant Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations.
  • Through on point communication and attention to detail you ensure successful integration (in design, planning and installation) with building and other MHE Automation projects.
  • Using standard methodologies and your experience you engage internal and external partners and teammates to achieve strong results.
  • You ensure sound project management control, structured communication & guard timelines and budget accordingly.
