When you think of jobs at Royal Mail, the first thing you might think of is the postal workers who deliver mail to your home day in, day out. From exam results and tax returns to wedding invites or online purchases, joining Royal Mail gives you the opportunity to deliver much more than mail. It allows you to deliver smiles and successes; new toys and old memories—making a real impact in your community, while working for one of the UK's most well-loved brands.

About the Role

As a member of our driving team, you will be the public face of Royal Mail and an established part of the community. Your day will mainly involve driving, collecting bulk mail from major customers and Post Offices, and transporting mail between our Mail Centres and Delivery offices at scheduled times. You will also load and unload your van and sort the mail for onward distribution.

About You

Upbeat and self-motivated, you'll be comfortable working alone or as part of a team, and enjoy getting to know your colleagues. You should have a strong sense of community and be flexible with shift patterns. We deliver mail in all weather conditions, so liking outdoors and keeping fit through walking are important. Experience in a customer-facing role is desirable.

Driving Licence Requirements

You must have a C1 Category licence (at your current UK address) with less than 6 penalty points; a clean licence is preferred. You need to have obtained your Periodic Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and hold a valid Drivers Qualification Card (DQC) with 35 hours of training. You must also be able to present your Digital Tachograph Card if selected for assessment.

Additional Benefits:

  • Holiday entitlement starting at 22.5 days, increasing with service (pro-rata)
  • Contributory Pension Scheme
  • Career development opportunities
  • Full uniform for contracts longer than 3 months
  • Excellent maternity/paternity leave policy
  • Cycle2work scheme
  • Various discounts on lifestyle, travel, fashion, and health products
