As a Metrologist Technical Manager, you will work within our UKAS calibration laboratory, providing specialist support and advice to the Process Owner, Gauge Design, and Plant QAs. You will also be involved in growth projects to benefit our internal customers, performing calibration, first principles measurements, and working with various machines within the area.

You will report to the Material Analyst and be based at the Springfields Fuel site.

Key Responsibilities

• Calibrate digital and manual gauges according to drawings/specifications
• Record data and produce reports following industry standards
• Work in compliance with UKAS accreditation standards, ISO 17025:2017
• Lead PT / Inter-lab activities
• Serve as Load & Torque technical lead
• Manage external calibration services
• Approve Signatory and authorize results
• Ensure work complies with Health and Safety policies and safety case requirements
• Return gauges to operational areas via authorized routes
• Authorize results and release measurements
• Use CMM software to program gauges against drawings
• Support the Calibration Laboratory in providing a safe and effective service to production plants

Qualifications

• HNC, HND, BTEC, HTEC in metrology, engineering, or scientific subjects, or equivalent work experience with at least 10 years relevant experience
• Relevant work experience may substitute formal qualifications
• Experience with calibration roles, CMM software, and programming
• Understanding of UKAS Accreditation requirements (ISO 17025)
• Knowledge of CMM and gauge management systems
• Strong mechanical aptitude with dimensional and mechanical experience
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and geometric tolerances

Desirable

• Experience in the nuclear industry
• Active Approved Signatory status
• Torque and Load measurement experience
• Experience with UKAS or customer audits
• Uncertainty Budget development experience
