Job summary

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) Coventry is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Metrology to translate customer specifications into robust inspection methods and manufacturing plans. The role drives continual improvement of measurement techniques to cut lead times and costs while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

• Significant, proven experience and technical expertise in metrology and inspection.
• Degree qualified in an Engineering, Industrial or Manufacturing discipline or equivalent experience and qualifications.
• Experience interpreting BS:8888 into methods of inspection.

Responsibilities

• Create inspection methods and sequences.
• Quote job requests for lead-time and cost.
• Create PFMEAs, process flow charts and control plans.
• Manage technical projects from initial quote through to delivered product.
• Resolve non-conformance to ensure in-spec product.
• Collaborate with customer to optimise design for inspection (DfM).
• Lead improvement of manufacturing processes with focus on safety, quality, cost and efficiency.
• Introduce new manufacturing capability into the workshop.
• Influence future manufacturing capability roadmaps for world-class processes.
• Develop and coach Technicians in inspection processes.
• Operate manufacturing processes to deliver customer deliverables.
• Share lessons learned with engineering teams.
