The digital Metro team includes iconic titles such as the Lancashire Post, Blackpool Gazette, Sunderland Echo, Shields Gazette, LiverpoolWorld, ManchesterWorld, BristolWorld, and NewcastleWorld.
National World is passionate about quality local journalism, campaigning for our communities, and serving as a guide to our cities. We are seeking a leader to manage and inspire our journalists as a people and content manager.
The ideal candidate should be creative, calm under pressure, possess excellent news judgment, and be a great collaborator who enjoys nurturing talent and developing skills. The role involves making quick decisions and managing content to engage and grow our audience across city brands.
This position requires working closely with the Metro Group Editor to oversee digital content plans and manage contributions from various sources. The successful applicant will be a NQJ-trained senior journalist, preferably with digital newsroom leadership experience, capable of embracing change and building relationships across our cities.
The role is hybrid, involving both office and remote work.
We are looking for an ambitious, proactive leader who is skilled at building rapport, comfortable communicating internally and externally, interpreting data, and planning ahead.
The candidate should be a journalist motivated by high engagement, understanding that analytics are vital indicators of content quality.
The role requires a fast, accurate content editor capable of generating ideas and amplifying digital content across multiple platforms.
Additionally, the candidate should be a team-focused leader who encourages development and growth among team members.
Flexibility to work shifts and weekends as needed is essential.
