The analysis of crop protection and industrial chemical residues in environmental samples is vitally important for protecting animal and human health. Through knowledge of the identity, character and potential toxicity of parent compounds, degradation products or metabolites, regulators can set maximum usage limits and guidance to minimise exposure.

You can be part of the team that do this at our Shardlow site, in Derbyshire and as a Method Developer, you will be responsible for developing the methods required to analyse the samples using various methods and techniques.

Main responsibilities include:
  • Participating in method development and validation projects
  • To provide advice and guidance on all aspects of methodology relevant to the department
Education:
  • BSc in Chemistry related subject. Experience may be substituted for education
Skills and experience:
  • Extensive Instrumentation experience in industry with: LC-MS/MS
  • Working knowledge of the following would be advantageous. GC-MS, HPLC- uv, GC-FID and ICP-MS
  • Demonstrable experience with the workings of an analytical chemistry laboratory
  • Knowledge and/or experience working to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) advantageous
  • Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines
