Metering and Billing Officer

£32,043 - £35,216 per year

37.5 hours per week

Temporary position for up to 12 months

We have an opportunity for a Metering and Billing Officer to join our Team based in London. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude and willingness to develop their knowledge of this sector and work as part of the team to ensure that we are meeting the requirements of the regulatory framework for heat networks.

The main purpose of this role is to provide a high quality and responsive communal heating metering and billing service putting customers at the heart of all we do. To ensure the effective management of all heat and hot water accounts connected to Swan’s Combined Heat and Power (CHP) network system, including the setting up of new heating accounts on new developments.

The role of Metering and Billing Officer will include:

  • Ensure that timely and accurate statements of energy consumption and charges for heating and hot water are generated and distributed to residents each month
  • Provide a main point of contact for customers making enquiries on their heating and hot water accounts
  • Liaise with development and property services teams to ensure that accounts and tariff information is set up for newly built properties
  • Proactively review meter reads data, and obtain and record actual readings where the account is being billed on estimate readings
  • Regularly review and update customer account information in line with tenancy and occupancy changes by effective liaison with landlords and managing agents

Skills and experiences:

  • Proven experience either in the Housing or Energy sector
  • Knowledge of or a demonstrated proactive approach to learning about heat billing accounting systems, energy and utility bills and tariff structures along with the applicable legislation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of the principles of customer care
