Job summary

Gi Group Holdings Recruitment Limited is hiring Meter Readers in the Cambridge area to collect data from gas, electricity and water meters for commercial and residential sites. You will use a handheld device and provide excellent customer service while maintaining flexible start times and a 40–45 hour week.

Full training is provided; no prior experience required. Benefits include pension enrollment, uniform/PPE, and potential promotion to higher earnings with bonuses up to 2,000 GBP monthly.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to bend, lift, kneel, climb stairs, crouch and walk 4–5 miles daily.
• Manual UK Driving Licence – minimum 1 year, 6 points max, no DR offences.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent convictions).
• Credit report check – no CCJs, IVA, debt relief orders in last 6 years.
• 5 years employment history.
• Previous customer service experience (preferred, not essential).

Responsibilities

• Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water, Gas and Electric Meters; full training provided.
• Carry out visual inspections of metering equipment.
• Charge Point Surveys.
• Drive and motivate yourself to work independently.
• Friendly, professional demeanor in work interactions.
• Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.

Job description

We are hiring METER READERS in your postcode now; no experience is required.

As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from gas, electricity & water meters for both commercial and residential properties. You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on your handheld device, also entering the details on a handheld device at each location and providing excellent customer service.

What we offer:

£13.23 per hour basic pay (weekly payment)

Weekly Hours 40 - 45 hours a week with flexible start and finish times Monday - Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am - 8pm.

£29,000 to £35,000 average annual earnings including bonusses.

Bonus scheme with earnings up to £2000 monthly.

Business expenses reimbursed.

No previous experience required.

Up to 28 days holiday per year (on an accrual basis).

What will you need:

• Physically fit and have no issues with bending in tight spaces, lifting or kneeling, climbing stairs, crouching, and walking on average 4-5 miles a day.
• Manual UK Driving Licence - Minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, NO DR Offences - (driving license is not required in some areas in London)
• Happy to work in all weather conditions.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions)
• Credit Report check (No county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years)
• 5 years employment history.
• Previous Customer Service experience (preferred not essential)

Duties:

Training:

• Training is 1 week and will be both classroom-based and field-based with an experienced meter reader, so you get to see the job through a professional's eyes.
