Job role :
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Metalwork Technician role offers a diverse set of challenges that empower the individual to develop a career as a fine Lantern & Lighting maker.
The role requires adherence to strict Health & Safety standards, physical fitness for manual handling tasks, and strong administrative skills to record and maintain quality control.
You will be a team player and a brand ambassador for this distinguished manufacturer.
Your duties will include modifying and repairing custom light fittings and fixtures, assisting in pre-finishing processes, and ensuring products meet safety standards such as BS EN 60598, UL 1598, and ETL certification.
There is a culture of innovation where technicians are encouraged to contribute ideas for manufacturing and design improvements to uphold and enhance industry standards.
Requirements :
The work involves a hybrid of hand metalworking and manufacturing skills. Experience with tools such as lathes, pedestal grinders, and polishing wheels is valuable.
The materials used are primarily brass and steel, with other metals employed for strength or specific components. Skills in silver soldering, brazing, soft soldering, riveting, and welding are desirable.
Experience outside lighting, such as welding, blacksmithing, or jewelry production, is also relevant. A good understanding of engineering and fabrication, along with a natural craft instinct, is important.
