Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sign making is preferred, but training is provided.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings/schematics and work to tight tolerances is beneficial.
  • Full UK manual car driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points is highly desirable.
  • Computer literacy to complete tasks and document work is required.

Job description

As a Metal Fabricator - Assistant Sign Shop Technician, you will report to the Sign Shop Technician and the Contracts Manager. You will be responsible for (not exhaustive):

  • Learning to produce and fabricate signs and other traffic-related products using the correct materials.
  • Carrying out routine and non-routine maintenance on signs in the workshop.
  • Contributing to a strong Sign Shop Service through the fabrication and installation of signs.
  • Maintaining records of completed works and accurately recording any amendments.
  • Using electrical, mechanical, and hand tools to cut, shape, and assemble signs.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out and documented in line with company SHE policies.

To be successful as the ideal candidate, you will have proven experience in sign making, but training will be provided to candidates with aptitude and transferable skills. You should also possess:

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines.
  • The ability to read engineering drawings/schematics and work to tight tolerances (beneficial).
  • A full UK manual car driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points (highly desirable).
  • Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheel, First Aid at Work certifications.
  • Computer literacy to complete scheduled and emergency tasks, and to document and record work.
