Metal Components Manager

Metal Components Manager required to join a well-established company that is based in the Biggleswade area. This company supplies metal components directly to leading supermarket chains in the UK and Ireland and indirectly through a national network of independent Distributors.

Due to continuous success and growth, this opportunity has become available and will suit an experienced individual with a proven track record within a modern manufacturing facility primarily based around sheet metal components and finishing. You will need to be able to demonstrate a good understanding or previous experience in lean manufacturing, process improvement/change management, and the use of integrated manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of between 40 people across the following functions - Sheet metal department / Powder Coating Line / CNC routers & component assembly
• Responsible for the manufacture of components and sub-assemblies to the production schedule
• Ensure the efficient use of production resources whilst maintaining a high standard of quality.
• Continually review the production process with a view to generating lean improvements.
• Manage Health and Safety
• Work closely with other functions to enable achievement of the delivery schedule.

Minimum Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years proven managerial experience within a sheet metal environment.
• Experience of modern automated and semi-automated equipment.
• Experience of a Powder Coating and CNC routers and assemblies would be desirable.
• Ability to ensure effective use of resources.
• Experience or appreciation of lean methodologies.
• Experience of process improvement.
• Previous experience of MRP systems and Microsoft Office
• Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment

Full time - permanent position
Monday to Friday - 07:30am to 16:00pm (once a week you will be required to work a late shift that starts at 16:00pm)
