Job summary

Data is the keystone of modern energy regulation, and Ofgem is looking for a Metadata Management Specialist to build out our energy data and take our capabilities to the next level.

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.

We’re offering a permanent opportunity to play a central role in strengthening how data supports our work across energy markets, ensuring data is accessible, trusted and easy to navigate. Through your efforts, you will enable better insight, stronger assurance and more confident use of information across our organisation.

Influencing how data standards are applied in practice, you’ll help embed consistent approaches that improve discoverability, integration and governance. Your contribution will support clarity in complex data environments and help maintain the integrity of energy market information as expectations around transparency and compliance continue to grow.

Working closely with colleagues across teams, you will be part of a highly collaborative environment where shared understanding and alignment matter. You will help connect operational needs with governance frameworks, contributing to ways of working that support data quality, consistency and long-term value.

We’re looking for someone with experience in metadata, information management or data governance, who enjoys bringing structure to complexity and working across organisational boundaries. You will bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of colleagues.

In return, you will join a collaborative organisation where data plays an increasingly important role in shaping outcomes. You will have the opportunity to grow your expertise, influence developing practices and contribute to work that supports effective regulation and better outcomes for consumers.

We have a critical purpose to ensure data is trusted, accessible and fit for purpose in a rapidly changing energy system. Join us and help strengthen how data is used and governed across the organisation.
