FMG Repair (Zig Up) in Dumfries offers an MET Technician Apprentice Level 3. This paid apprenticeship combines on‑the‑job training with a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification.

You will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to inspect, remove, repair and refit MET components on accident‑damaged vehicles. Qualifications

• Aged 16 or over.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade 4–9 (A*–C) or predicted meeting final requirements.
• Interest in vehicle accident repair and automotive technology.
• Good practical skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic IT skills for completing documentation.
• Driving licence desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with removal, repair and refitting of MET components on accident-damaged vehicles.
• Learn to inspect vehicles and identify damaged components.
• Support the diagnosis of faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Remove and refit vehicle components, including bumpers, lights, doors, glass, interiors, wiring and systems.
• Carry out repairs in line with manufacturer methods and safety standards.
• Assist with wheel alignment, suspension checks and replacement of components as required.
• Complete quality checks to ensure repairs meet specifications before return to customers.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Work with Panel Technicians, Paint Technicians and Vehicle Damage Assessors to ensure efficient repairs.
• Follow company policies, health and safety and environmental standards.
• Attend all apprenticeship training sessions and complete work-based assignments.
