Job summary

Perfect Placement UK Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a well-established commercial vehicle business for an experienced MET Technician to join their Billingham team. The role offers a competitive starting salary and real opportunities for overtime, progression, and professional development.

You will diagnose and repair electrical faults, install wiring systems, service ECU and telematics, and prepare vehicles for MOT, following wiring diagrams and manuals to the highest standards.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds) in relevant electrical trade.
• Proven experience installing electrical systems in vehicles.
• Full UK driving license.
• Proactive attitude and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work under pressure to high standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in commercial vehicles.
• Install, maintain, and repair vehicle wiring systems and electrical components.
• Service and repair ECU systems, telematics, tracking devices, and cameras.
• Maintain and repair air conditioning electrical systems.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot electrical issues.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT; follow wiring diagrams and manuals.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs and parts used.

Duties of the MET Technician:

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in commercial vehicles
• Install, maintain, and repair vehicle wiring systems and electrical components
• Work on lighting, indicators, electrical braking, starters, alternators, and battery systems
• Service and repair ECU systems, telematics, tracking devices, and cameras
• Maintain and repair air conditioning electrical systems
• Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot electrical issues
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and vehicle standards
• Prepare vehicles for MOT, checking and repairing electrical faults
• Follow wiring diagrams and technical manuals accurately
• Maintain detailed records of repairs and parts used

Requirements of the MET Technician:

• Level 2 qualification or equivalent (NVQ/City & Guilds) in relevant electrical trade
• Proven experience installing electrical systems in vehicles
• Full UK driving license
• A proactive attitude and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work efficiently and to high standards under pressure
