Job summary

Auto Skills UK is seeking an experienced MET Technician for our Ashford (Surrey) workshop. You will perform mechanical, electrical and trim work during the vehicle repair process, ensuring safety and high quality standards. The role includes removing/refitting components, stripping to access repairs, and diagnosing faults.

Join our full-time team with a 45.5-hour week, optional overtime and night allowance. A joining bonus is available, with a clear path to permanent employment.

Qualifications

• MET Technician with experience in accident repair.
• Experience on commercial vehicles advantageous.
• NVQ/IMI/SVQ/VRQ/VRQ/ATA Level 3 in Vehicle Mechanical, Electrical & Trim.

Responsibilities

• Remove and refit mechanical, electrical and trim components.
• Strip vehicles to access body repair and paintwork.
• Refit components after completion of repairs.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults, including recalibration.
• Identify damaged components and report additional work.
• Collaborate with Bodyshop colleagues to maintain efficient repairs.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and safety requirements.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, accuracy and attention to detail.

MET TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL & TRIM)

Location: Ashford, Surrey

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 Basic Salary + £2,000 Joining Bonus (after 6 months)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm, Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm (45.5 hours per week) - substantial overtime and night allowance available (optional)

THE ROLE

As an MET Technician, you will be responsible for the mechanical, electrical and trim work required during the vehicle accident repair process. Your work will help ensure vehicles are repaired safely, accurately and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Removing and refitting mechanical, electrical and trim components during vehicle repairs.
• Stripping vehicles to provide access for body repair and paintwork.
• Refitting components accurately following completion of repairs.
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults, including resetting and recalibrating systems where required.
• Identifying damaged or faulty components and reporting any additional work required.
• Working with Bodyshop colleagues to maintain an efficient repair process.
• Following manufacturer repair procedures and relevant safety requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, accuracy and attention to detail.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience working as an MET Technician within an accident repair centre or Bodyshop.
• Previous experience working on commercial vehicles would be advantageous.
• Recognised apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (NVQ / IMI / SVQ / VRQ / ATA or equivalent).
• Confident removing and refitting mechanical, electrical and trim components.
• Good diagnostic skills and understanding of vehicle electrical systems.
• A reliable, organised approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
