Job description

Merchant Marketing Manager, Amazon Pay JP Marketing

Amazon Pay is the service which offers a more convenient and secure shopping experience for Amazon customers.
Amazon Pay enables customers to use their shipping and payment information, such as credit cards stored on Amazon, for shopping on off-Amazon sites. This service allows customers to avoid remembering every single ID/password at non-Amazon sites, eliminates the need to enter an address/credit card, and provides protection under the Amazon Marketplace Guarantee. For merchants, Amazon Pay can increase conversion rates (cart-in to complete-purchase) and acquire new members.

Since the JP launch in May 2015, more than 100,000 ecommerce sites have implemented the service, and this business is growing faster than planned. The Amazon Pay JP Marketing team is looking for an experienced B2B Marketing Manager who can play a critical role in acquiring new merchants to implement Amazon Pay on their ecommerce sites. Working with the sales team, partner team, global marketing team, and other internal and external partners, this role will be responsible for digital marketing (e.g., email, paid media, and website management) and campaign planning to drive new merchant acquisition. You should have a B2B marketing background and a high level of comfort working within a sophisticated set of marketing tools, enabling you to manage a high volume of activity to achieve activity-based metrics.

Successful candidates have demonstrated:

  1. High attention to detail, including precise and effective customer communications, and the proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  2. Proven analytical and quantitative skills (including use of Excel and other software) and an ability to use hard data and metrics to support assumptions and develop project business cases.
  3. An ability to think big and execute methodically.
  4. Self-sufficiency while operating on a team.
  5. Willingness to be flexible and expand the scope of work beyond the initial assignment.
  6. Networking and influencing with global and local stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Build and execute an effective online marketing plan using a marketing automation tool like Pardot to drive registrations and accelerate launches.
  2. Execute paid media to drive awareness of Amazon Pay and generate new leads of potential merchants.
  3. Plan and execute new marketing activities by collaborating with internal stakeholders such as the sales team, partner team, and PM team to drive registration.
  4. Create and optimize marketing content (email, website, landing page, etc.) by collaborating with internal stakeholders such as content marketing, PM team, and sales teams in Amazon Pay JP as well as in other locations.
  5. Analyze the effectiveness of projects/marketing activities/campaigns and perform the PDCA cycle.
  6. Automate, create mechanisms, and streamline marketing initiatives.
  7. Partner with the global marketing team to import best practices and export learnings.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. 5+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience. B2B experience is a must.
  2. Excellent communication skills in English & Japanese (at least business level in both written and verbal).
  3. Experience in content creation such as emails, web copy, landing page copy, video, etc.
  4. Proficient with a varied set of marketing automation and editing tools (including Pardot, HTML, basic to intermediate Excel, and image editing software).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience using customer research, hard data, and metrics to back up assumptions, generate forecasts, and assess the efficacy of marketing programs.
  2. Experience utilizing systems and tools involving email, web, analytics, and CRM (Marketo, Tableau, Salesforce, etc.) for targeting, segmentation, and reporting for demand generation.
