Overview

Why Join Us

Join our General Merchandise team at Sainsbury’s and become a key player in our Brand Clothing division, where style meets strategy. As a Merchandiser, you’ll help shape our customer offer across multi-channel platforms, driving profitable growth and delivering an exceptional shopping experience.

You’ll have the autonomy to make decisions, adapt quickly in a fast-paced retail environment, and continuously develop your skills. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to bring our clothing ranges to life. We also champion flexibility, giving you the freedom to work in ways that support both your professional and personal wellbeing.

What You’ll Do

As a Merchandiser in Brand Clothing, you’ll lead the execution of a customer-facing, multi-channel merchandising strategy for your category/ranges, aligned with our broader commercial goals. You’ll use market analysis, customer insights, and supplier knowledge to build category frameworks and budgets that drive performance.

You’ll be responsible for reviewing trading performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and contributing to trade and post-implementation reviews. Managing stock levels and supplier relationships will be key, as will collaborating with teams across the business on space optimisation and joint business planning. You’ll also prioritise inbound and outbound stock flow to meet critical path milestones and deliver a seamless customer experience.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to know how to interpret data to make informed decisions, understand how to engage and influence stakeholders, and be confident in planning and prioritising across multiple projects. You’ll show strong organisational skills, a customer-first mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, while role-modelling positive ways of working across the team.

Essential Criteria
  • Based at our Coventry Store Support Centre 2 days per week
  • Previous merchandising experience, ideally in a non-food, multi-channel retail environment
  • Confident working with data to inform decisions, spot trends, and drive commercial performance
  • Proven ability to deliver results both individually and within a team
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-moving retail setting
