We invite you to bring your expertise as a Rail Sector focused Building Services Director to join our multi-disciplinary ‘Buildings’ team. You will be an inspirational leader building new client relationships while supporting growth and leadership in the rail sector.

Job Description

As our new MEP Rail Sector Lead, you will be pivotal in developing Ramboll’s offering in Stations, Depots and associated developments across the UK. The role focuses on delivering complex rail projects, managing teams, and driving business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead rail projects of scale as the most senior Ramboll point of contact, delivering profitably and meeting client satisfaction while managing financial performance, change, and commercial risk.
• Demonstrate technical excellence in rail building services design, incorporating digital engineering and evolving industry standards.
• Hold a senior technical qualification (CEM, CRE, DPE, PE or equivalent) and be familiar with client technical assurance processes and railway standards.
• Show commercial and contractual competence, managing projects while addressing commercial and contractual issues.
• Elevate Ramboll’s rail offering profile across the UK and internationally through networking, B2B meetings, seminars, thought leadership, and business development.
• Support and develop Building Services Engineers, including competence management and training oversight.
• Promote and grow Ramboll’s multi‑disciplinary capability in the local market.
• Attract and develop a skilled, diverse, and highly regarded Buildings team.

About You

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and Chartered Engineer with a track record in consulting.
• In‑depth knowledge of the UK rail sector.
• Experience leading and delivering major rail projects.
• A notable and growing profile as a trusted Building Services leader.
• Forward‑thinking and enthusiastic about digital design innovation and ‘smart design’.
• Strong client‑facing skills, including presenting to clients, preparing and negotiating proposals, and procuring project resources.
• Proven ability to win business and support Ramboll’s growth.
• Ability to motivate and develop multidisciplinary professional teams.
• Demonstrated aptitude for team leadership and ambition for senior leadership career progression.
• Effective English oral and written communication skills.
