MEP Quantity Surveyor – Hospital – Exeter

Our client is a Main Contractor with a proven track record of nationwide coverage of various projects. Specialising in MEP installation, they are seeking an experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Exeter on a hospital construction project until Christmas, after which they will move to another project in Plymouth for 2 years.

Responsibilities
  1. Subcontractor procurement - Developing subcontract tender packages from contract information, analyzing received tenders, presenting options to senior management, negotiating with subcontractors, conducting pre-let meetings, and developing subcontract orders.
  2. Subcontract package management - Managing multiple subcontract packages from order through to final account, including remeasurement where required, monthly payments, and claims management.
  3. Monthly Reporting - Maintaining and submitting accurate monthly cost reports, including end-of-project projections, in collaboration with the site team.
  4. Stakeholder management - Attending periodic meetings with stakeholders such as clients, subcontractors, designers, and internal teams. Negotiating and closing out final accounts with subcontractors and clients in a timely and professional manner.
  5. Claims management - Handling subcontractor claims promptly, ensuring claims with the client are submitted timely and professionally in line with contract requirements.
  6. Valuations - Developing and submitting external valuations as required, engaging with client representatives, agreeing on monthly values, and ensuring certification and trackers are updated and communicated to the internal accounts team for invoicing.
Requirements
  • Must have a relevant degree qualification.
  • Must have previous experience on a healthcare construction project, e.g., hospitals, clinics, laboratories, etc.
  • Must be based within a commutable distance of both Exeter and Plymouth.
