We are seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to lead the mechanical, electrical and process elements of water and wastewater projects across a long-term capital delivery framework. This role carries end-to-end accountability for the safe, timely and commercially successful delivery of MEP works from design development and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning and handover.

Working closely with design, construction, commercial, planning and operational teams, you will integrate MEP delivery with the wider civil engineering programme. You will provide visible leadership across project teams and specialist subcontractors, build trusted client relationships and ensure that completed assets achieve the required safety, performance, compliance and reliability outcomes.

MEP Project Leadership
  • Lead MEP delivery across the full project lifecycle, from scope definition and design coordination through procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Develop and maintain the MEP execution plan, commissioning strategy, programme, resource plan and key deliverables.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, process and civil interfaces to ensure a buildable, integrated solution.
  • Provide clear direction to engineers, supervisors, commissioning teams and specialist subcontractors, acting as the senior escalation point for MEP delivery.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)
  • Take ownership of MEP safety, environmental and quality performance, promoting a proactive, values-led culture across the project and supply chain.
  • Ensure installations, energisation, testing and commissioning activities comply with statutory duties, company standards, client requirements and approved safe systems of work.
  • Provide visible leadership on site, including review of risk assessments, method statements, inspection and test plans, permits and electrical safety arrangements.
Commercial, Programme & Risk Management
  • Manage the MEP budget, programme, procurement schedule and forecast in partnership with commercial and planning teams.
  • Lead procurement and management of specialist MEP subcontractors and suppliers, including scope definition, technical evaluation, contract administration and change control under NEC contracts.
  • Identify and manage MEP risks, opportunities, design dependencies, long-lead items, interfaces and commissioning constraints.
  • Monitor progress against key milestones and implement recovery actions where required to protect overall project outcomes.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Build trusted relationships with the client, operational teams, designers, technical assurance functions, suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Represent MEP delivery at project reviews, design meetings, programme reviews, commercial reviews and client governance forums.
  • Communicate technical and delivery issues clearly, maintaining a collaborative, no-surprises approach throughout the project.
Leadership & People
  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary MEP team.
  • Set clear expectations for safety, quality, accountability and delivery performance.
  • Promote collaboration between engineering, construction, commissioning, commercial and supply-chain partners.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues and support succession planning across the framework.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
  • Own the commissioning strategy and coordinate factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, energisation, functional testing, performance testing and reliability trials.
  • Ensure commissioning plans, test records, acceptance documentation, operating information, training materials and completion records are produced to the required standard.
  • Coordinate defects resolution and demonstrate that process outputs meet design, regulatory, environmental and client requirements before handover.
  • Provide accurate reporting on MEP cost, programme, risk, quality, commissioning readiness and delivery confidence.
Essential
Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven ability to manage design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical plant, electrical systems, instrumentation, control and process interfaces.
  • Strong commercial and programme awareness, including NEC contracts, change control, cost management and subcontract administration.
