Job summary

Skilled Careers is seeking an experienced M&E Manager for a major new build development in London. This site-based role will oversee the mechanical and electrical delivery across the construction programme, collaborating with the project team, consultants and specialist subcontractors.

You should have prior M&E leadership within a main contractor or large sub-contractor, with experience on high-density projects such as student accommodation, hotels or residential schemes.

Qualifications

• Experience as M&E Manager, Building Services Manager or Technical Services Manager ideally with a main contractor or on large projects.
• Experience delivering large residential, student accommodation, hotel or high-density projects is highly relevant.
• Comfortable taking ownership of M&E packages on site and driving subcontractors to programme.

• Coordinate M&E subcontractors and ensure works progress to programme.
• Review drawings, technical information and specifications.
• Manage interfaces between M&E, structural and architectural packages.

• Attend subcontractor and project coordination meetings.
• Manage testing, commissioning, snagging and close out.
• Work with the Project Manager and construction team to resolve technical issues.

Job description

I am currently working with a well established main contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced M&E Manager for a major new build development.

The project is a large mixed use scheme comprising 400+ purpose built student accommodation units alongside commercial space, with the project now live on site.

This is a site based position taking responsibility for the M&E delivery throughout the construction programme, working closely with the project team, consultants and specialist subcontractors.

The Role

• Manage the mechanical and electrical packages on site from installation through to commissioning and handover
• Coordinate M&E subcontractors and ensure works are progressing in line with programme
• Review drawings, technical information and specifications
• Manage interfaces between M&E, structural and architectural packages
• Monitor installation quality and ensure works meet project requirements
• Attend subcontractor and project coordination meetings
• Manage testing, commissioning, snagging and close out
• Work closely with the Project Manager and wider construction team to identify and resolve technical issues

The Candidate

Ideally you will have previous experience working as an M&E Manager, Building Services Manager or Technical Services Manager with a main contractor or experience on larger projects with a large sub contractor.

Experience delivering large residential, student accommodation, hotel or similar high density projects would be particularly relevant.

You will need to be comfortable taking ownership of the M&E packages on site and driving subcontractors to programme.

The project is already on site and the contractor is looking to get somebody in place as soon as possible.
