Job summary

Fawkes and Reece is seeking an experienced MEP Estimator to work on long-term contract opportunities across London, Kent, and Essex. You will prepare detailed estimates for mechanical and electrical packages, collaborating with commercial, design and pre-construction teams to price projects effectively.

The ideal candidate will have UK MEP estimating experience, strong knowledge of building services, and the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an MEP Estimator in the UK construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building services.
• Experience estimating for Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed MEP estimates and tenders from drawings, specs and project info.
• Review tender docs to identify scope, risks and opportunities.
• Produce cost plans and Bills of Quantities accurately.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal commercial teams.
• Carry out take-offs and assess labour, materials, plant and subcontract costs.
• Identify value engineering opportunities.
• Assist with tender submissions and meet deadlines.
• Maintain estimating records and cost databases.
• Collaborate with project and pre-construction teams throughout the tender process.

We are currently recruiting experienced MEP Estimators to work with a number of reputable Tier 1 and Tier 2 UK construction businesses across London, Kent and Essex.

The Role

As an MEP Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates across mechanical and electrical packages, working closely with commercial, design and pre-construction teams to ensure projects are priced effectively and competitively.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing detailed MEP estimates and tenders from drawings, specifications and other project information.
• Reviewing tender documentation and identifying scope, risks and opportunities.
• Producing accurate cost plans and detailed bills of quantities.
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience working as an MEP Estimator within the UK construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building services.
• Experience estimating for Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors is highly desirable.
• A strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Experience with MEP take-offs, cost planning and subcontractor procurement.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
