Skilled Careers is seeking an experienced Project Buyer to join a high-performing procurement function in London, supporting major engineering and construction projects across the lifecycle from bid through delivery.

You will work with pre-construction, commercial, operational, and project teams, develop procurement strategies, manage multiple packages, and travel to regional offices as needed.

The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Buyer to join a high-performing procurement function within a growing and dynamic business. This is a fantastic chance for a procurement professional to develop their career while working on some of the UK's most prestigious engineering and construction projects.

Working closely with pre-construction, commercial, operational, and project teams, you will play a key role in supporting projects throughout their entire lifecycle—from work winning and pre-construction through to procurement, delivery, and final project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure materials, equipment, and associated supply chain solutions are procured competitively, within budget, and in line with project quality, specification, and programme requirements.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies that deliver best value, manage risk, and support successful project outcomes.
• Support the early engagement of suppliers during bid and pre-construction phases to secure capacity, drive innovation, and identify value opportunities.
• Manage multiple procurement packages simultaneously in a fast-paced project environment.
• Drive a proactive approach to supplier relationship management to improve value and reduce risk.
• Contribute to strategic procurement initiatives while supporting operational teams across multiple regions.

What We Are Looking For:

• Proven procurement experience within the construction, engineering, or M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) sectors.
• A strong understanding of project procurement processes and key commercial drivers.
• Confident communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing decisions at various levels.
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen.
• A proactive, solutions-driven approach to procurement and supply chain management.
• Flexibility to travel to project and regional offices when required, with occasional overnight stays.

The Package:

• Bonus Scheme: 7.5%
