The successful candidate will be joining at a time where services are under review and development in order to meet the changing needs of service users whilst gaining experience in offender health.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the mental health and learning disabilities services for an experienced, motivated and forward thinking practitioners to join a busy supportive team based at HMP Berwyn. The successful candidate will be joining at a time where services are under review and development in order to meet the changing needs of service users whilst gaining experience in offender health.

You will work with people experiencing a range of mental and emotional challenges to their health and wellbeing ranging from people with lower level mental health support needs to people with complex and chaotic lifestyles often coexisting with emotional and mental wellbeing challenges.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The role is to help primary care support people in acute distress complementing the functions of secondary mental health services. The role will provide direct supportive intervention, contributing to assessment, monitoring the efficacy of primary care intervention, undertake planning and reviews and navigation to appropriate community support services. The roles will also provide support where appropriate to people with more severe and enduring mental ill health to step down from secondary health services.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic mental health recovery practitioners with a real interest in forensic mental health and whilst experience in a forensic setting is desirable, it is not essential. Our aim is to identify staff with a strong belief in recovery and who are comfortable working closely with forensic prisoners. This type of setting will provide challenges and it is important that you have good understanding of caring for patients with acute mental health backgrounds. You will be approachable, energetic and resilient. You will be joining a team committed to improving the health and wellbeing of patients under our care and also supporting your professional development.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills within offender health and work closely within a multi-agency team to improve practice and overall experience for the service users.
